It all started here, sep 2021.

i used to make cosy videos where i’d set up my bullet journal while chatting about my life (and ever-evolving planning systems).

this is the video where the Constellation System began, as a simple way of dividing life into six overarching domains, with magickal symbols and latin-ish names

by oct 2022, the system had evolved into a card deck.

in this vlog, i shared my concept for the Constellation Deck for the first time. an organiser, a planner, but instead of a journal or notebook: a deck of cards.

my dream artist said yes!

i was working hard on designing the system of the deck, and writing the content for the cards and guide. i knew i didn’t have the art skills to bring my vision for the deck to life, so i reached out to my first choice artist - jenny lloyd. jenny is an incredible collage artist and designer - i was thrilled when she was excited about the project and agreed to jump on board.

while we worked on creating the deck, folks kept asking to learn more about the Constellation System and how to implement it.

so i decided to teach the system i had, to share it with people now while the Constellation Deck slowly took shape. i created a course called Constellation Clarity.

in 2022, i decided to simplify my business and shift to running it part time, alongside a part time coffee job.

so after teaching Constellation Clarity for a few years, i retired the course and put my full focus into creating the Constellation Deck and running my Patreon.

jenny and i continued working on designing the deck.

i was moving away from sharing my ideas through courses, and was really loving the simplicity of having my patreon as the centre of my work. i decided to consolidate all my resources about the Constellation System into one dedicated home on patreon: the Complete Constellation System Series.

this series would drip out as monthly installments of the Periodical, and expand on the material i’d taught in Constellation Clarity. for anyone interested in the system, it would hopefully be a slower but more affordable way of accessing the material.

as i released installments of the series, it eventually occurred to me that the Deck Guidebook I’d been writing and the Complete Constellation System Series were actually one and the same.

since then, i’ve been sharing draft chapters of the Guidebook via that series, and there are plenty of chapters still to come!

what’s next?

so, you might be wondering: what happens when the Deck is finally ready to be published?

i’ve been mulling this over for years at this point, and here’s where i stand:

i’m open to working with a traditional publisher, but i’m also excited at the prospect of going the indie route and keeping full creative control over the final product.

so, at time of writing, the plan is to crowdfund and indie-publish the Constellation Deck and create the most beautiful, magickal and practical version of the physical deck we can. we know that the trade off is that it will likely be a bit pricier than a commercially printed deck.

still, the whole point of this deck is to be a magickal tool and a practical workhorse, accompanying you through your day most days, so i think in this case it’s worth it.

that said, if the opportunity arises to work with a traditional publisher, i will absolutely consider it.

commercially printed decks, while they might not always have all the beautiful bells and whistles, tend to be more affordable and accessible to a wider range of people and i want those people to be able to get their hands on the deck too.
